Actually this is a group project for social studies, about 4 months ago. This was one of my contributions. Just wanted to share this to all of you.
Vices are evil,
degrading or immoral practices or habits. Teens nowadays are doing such things
that we call as vices, some of which are drinking alcoholic drinks, smoking and
pre-marital sex.
The mentioned vices
might be caused by lack of parental guidance or awareness. These might be also
caused by influence of other teens. Well as what we’ve said there might be a
lot of causes.
The first vice is
teens drinking alcoholic drinks. What might cause this? We think that what
causes this the influence of other teens that also do this vice. Another cause
of this vice is the lack of parental guidance. Parents are the first ones who
should guide teens through these vices. With this, teens would know what the
disadvantages of this vice are. If parents would guide the teens properly then
the teens would not drink and if they won’t drink they won’t influence other
teens.
When teens get drunk
(even older people) they can’t control what’s going on around them or what they
can do. The influence of alcohol in people causes them to do things they have
no control over. Some of these things are vomiting, getting into fights or
worse killing. The influence of alcohol truly causes bad things to us and to
other people. Another thing that is caused by drinking alcohol is another vice
which is pre-marital sex.
Pre-marital sex is
rampant nowadays. Pre-marital sex is caused by lack of education about this and
lack of education about this means lack of education about what it causes. Pre-marital
sex not only causes teen pregnancy or early pregnancy but it also causes sin
against God.
Yes, maybe this is
one of the causes why the RH Bill is such a big topic nowadays. The RH Bill
states that children should have education regarding responsible sex. We think
that it is better to have this kind of education so that teens (even younger
children) would be aware about responsible sex. With this kind of education
teens will know the disadvantages, prevention and etc. of pre-marital sex.
The 3rd
vice is smoking. Smoking is another rampant problem in the society nowadays.
Teens learn how to smoke without their parents consent. Causes of this vice are
just like the cause of drinking alcohol namely influence of other teens and
lack of parental guidance. Smoking of teens might be also caused by influence
of their parents. When parents smoke, especially fathers, the children will be
conscious of what their parents are taking so they tend to try the same habit. Parents
have a very big influence on their children that’s why parents should watch
their actions especially when their children are around.
Smoking has a lot of
risks especially regarding health issues. Lung cancer, heart problems and
bronchitis are just some of the effects of smoking in our bodies. The life expectancy of the smoker is
cut short by 10- 12 years and more than half of all smokers die from
smoking-related diseases. The younger the onset of smoking the longer one will
most likely smoke and younger one is more likely to die. Smoking is a slow
killer, not just to the smoker but to those also around him as they are
affected by second- hand smoke. See what smoking causes? It doesn’t just affect
your health, it also affects other people’s health and not just that, it also
contributes to pollution.
Simply our blog is to encourage our
co-teens out there to stop and prevent these top vices. With our own little
ways and discipline we can save our lives and even others’ lives as well. Maybe
you can say that you have fun doing these vices but just think of what may
happen after you do these things. After all we’re just teens. We have to admit
we don’t know everything. There are still people who know more than us, they
are our parents. Maybe sometimes they are annoying for not letting us do what
we want but guess what, they know what’s best for us. We might see that they
are right soon but let us just think now that in their decisions there is
always a good side to it and that good side is for us. SO TO EVERYBODY OUT THERE NOT JUST TEENS BUT TO EVERYONE, STOP AND PREVENT THESE VICES FOR A BETTER WORLD AND FOR A
BETTER TOMORROW! JJJ
